On Thursday, 15th of February 2018, a Seminar about the role of intellectual property in research activities was held at the headquarter of Agricultural Institute of Slovenia (KIS). The Seminar was organized within the framework of SLO-ACE project activities. Helena Valas, M.Sc. (KIS) outlined intellectual property rights in the research environment. Marta Šabec, M.Sc. and Petra Žagar (both representatives from Ministry of education, science and sport) presented Partnership Instruments in the field of European Research, Development and Innovation.
MEETING WITH REPRESENTATIVES OF RESEARCH INSTITUTIONS AND INDUSTRY REPRESENTATIVES
In the afternoon a round table was organized by representatives from the Agricultural Institute of Slovenia (Andrej Simončič, PhD – Director, Vladimir Meglič, PhD – Project Coordinator, Meta Čandek-Potokar, PhD, Franc Čuš, PhD, Peter Dolničar, PhD – Heads of research fields) with representatives of research institutions. They were discussing about their role and further possibilities of cooperation within the SLO-ACE, Slovenian Centre of Excellence for Agricultural Sciences.
The event was concluded with a meeting with industry and chambers’ representatives, moderated by the Project Manager Antoaneta G. Kuhar, PhD (KIS). After a short presentation of project’s activities, industry representatives were invited to present shortly the companies they are coming from and outline challenges and their vision for cooperation in the activities of the second phase of the project SLO-ACE.
The Initiation Workshop for end-users was held at the headquarters of the Agricultural Institute of Slovenia on Tuesday, 7th of November 2017.
After the welcome address of the coordinator Vladimir Meglič, PhD (KIS) and presentation of the SLO-ACE project activities, the guest speaker Andreja Kutnar, PhD from the University of Primorska presented the InnoRenew Center of Excellence and Hans-Josef Schroers, PhD (KIS) showed to the invitees an example of the good practice of the European project: CropSustaIn project platform for the documentation oscientific networking activities.
In the continuation of the event, a short presentation of SLO-ACE partners was given by, Bénédicte Lebret, PhD (INRA), Mogens Nicolaisen, PhD (AU), and Vladimir Meglič, PhD (on behalf of KIS director Andrej Simončič, PhD).
In the afternoon, parallel sessions were organized. Steering Commitee Meeting of SLO-ACE composed of the director of Agricultural Institute of Slovenia (Andrej Simončič), the members of the SLO-ACE Scientific Advisory Board (Paolo Barbieri, Paul Bilsborrow, Frank R. Dunshea), representatives of the local communities – Chamber of Commerce, Chamber of Agriculture and Forestry and Cooperative Union of Slovenia (Tatjana Zagorc, Igor Hrovatič, Bogdan Štepec), a representative of the Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy involved in the coordination of the Smart Specialization Strategy – Slovenia (Karolina Schlegel), a representative of the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports (Mateja Tilia), a representative of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Food (Tadeja Kvas Majer) and a representative of the Agricultural Sciences (Peter Dovč).
Round tables were organized on Field crops and grassland production (moderator Peter Dolničar, PhD – KIS); Fruit growing Viticulture and oenology (moderator Franc Čuš, PhD – KIS) and Animal production (moderator Meta Čandek-Potokar, PhD – KIS). They were attended by representatives of research institutes, universities and end-users (representatives of the industry, breeders associations, government, advisory service, chambers of agriculture and food industry). The purpose of the round tables was to initiate an open discussion among all actors on how to develop a new CoE SLO-ACE involving all interested and relevant actors.
On Wednesday, 26th of September 2017, the Kick-Off Meeting of EU Teaming project with acronym SLO-ACE was held at the headquarters of the Agricultural Institute of Slovenia in Ljubljana. The project is funded within the European Union’s Research and Innovation Program H2020.
The leading partner, Agricultural Institute of Slovenia (KIS) and its partner institutions from Denmark and France, the Aarhus University (AU) and Institut National de la recherche agronomique (INRA), presented the aims and scope of the partnership – the creation of a center of excellence in agriculture and the strengthening of research and innovation cooperation.
In the beginning the audience was addressed by the Director of the Agricultural Institute of Slovenia, Andrej Simončič, PhD and the project coordinator of SLO-ACE, Vladimir Meglič, PhD, who presented the aims and importance of the project for the Institute and the Slovenian agriculture research environment. The governmental support for this ambitious project was emphasized by the high representatives of the Ministry of the education, science and sports, state secretary Tomaž Boh, PhD, and director of agriculture directorate at the Ministry of agriculture, forestry and food, Mrs. Tadeja Kvas Majer. At the end, the representatives of partnering institutes , Aarhus University (Per Gregersen, Mogens Nicolaisen, Hanne Lakkenborg Kristensen) and INRA (Jean-François Hocquette, Remy Ghidossi, Bénédicte Lebret) presented their institutions and their role in the project SLO-ACE.
